With help from community volunteers, 200 seedlings were planted at the Kyanyawara Church of Uganda and the Kyanyawara Christian Fellowship. These two churches were chosen as demonstration areas thanks to the interest of their congregations. With the large crowds drawn to these locations, we look forward to the community being exposed to more in-depth facets of the project regarding tree planting and fuel efficient stoves.

Transporting 100 seedlings

A lot of slashing was needed to prepare the formerly unused land for the seedlings

The youngest volunteer was also the most enthusiastic, digging holes for a simple fence to protect the young trees from grazing goats

Planting

A clear view of the "border" planting method being promoted. Taking up very little room, the trees are planted just one meter apart. They should be ready for the first harvest of fuel wood in just six months.
