On December 10th 2006 we hosted a stove workshop at the main demonstration area. More than 50 people came to learn about the
rocket stove and haybox. A contest between a traditional stove and an efficient stove proved very exciting, and the taste test at the end was enjoyed by all!

Margaret Abwooki, a member of the Local Council and also one of the first in the neighborhood to construct her own rocket stove, tells of its wood saving wonders.

Weighing wood before the stove showdown begins.

Traditional stove cooking, but the winner is...

The easy to build Rocket Stove!
In the end, the rocket stove and haybox combo cooked one pot full of potatoes and one pot full of beans, using a kilo less wood than the traditional stove used to cook only beans.

Participants getting first hand experience in stove building.

And for the next workshop, we'll tackle the question everyone wants answered:
Can the rocket stove cook millet for an ENTIRE FAMILY??
(yes, it can!)
